Knights Win 2nd Straight With Rout of San Bernardino
Blake Newman went 4-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI, and two runs in the Knights' 15-4 non-league win over Los Angeles Valley on Wednesday afternoon.
The Knights, who have won two straight games in as many days, fell behind by a run in the first inning, but responded with five runs of their own to take a 5-1 lead.
With Frank Lopez and Anthony Warneke in scoring positions, Cesar Fitch hit a single to left field that allowed both to come home for City's first two runs. Fitch scored on a Brendan Gerbert ground ball and then, later in the inning with the bases loaded, Ernesto Parra hit a 2-RBI single to center field that put City ahead, 5-1.
Los Angeles Valley scored a run in each the fourth and fifth innings to cut City's lead to 5-3, but the Knights pulled away with three runs in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the sixth to gain a 10-3 lead.
The Knights tacked on five more runs in the eighth inning. Two of those runs came off a 2-run home run from Addison Hull, his first of the season, and a 2-RBI double from Warneke.
City will resume its 3-game series with San Bernardino Valley on Thursday. The Knights scored twice in the eighth inning of the first game against SBVC on Tuesday to break a tie and hung on to win, 5-3.
The Knights, who are 8-8 in the PCAC, will be back home on Saturday at noon to conclude the series with San Bernardino. Box Score
