Three-Peat! Knights Clinch 3rd Straight PCAC South Title

San Diego City College clinched its third straight PCAC South championship with an 82-65 road win over Southwestern. The Knights, who went undefeated in conference play the previous two seasons, are 8-0 and two home wins away from going undefeated once again.

Friday's victory was City's 20th in a row as the Knights improved to 27-2 overall, the best record after 29 games in team history.

The Knights have won all eight PCAC South games by an average of 27.8 points.

Head Coach Mitch Charlens has now led the men's basketball team to seven (2005, 2009, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018) conference championships since joining the Knights in 2004-05. The Knights have gone 26-0 in the PCAC South in the last three seasons and 40-2 over the last five.

Sophomore Robert McCoy led the Knights with a season-high 32 points to go with a team-high 12 rebounds, while Ethan Esposito added 13 points and nine rebounds.

Joseph Riley led the bench with eight points. Issac Davis had four points and five assists as a reserve.

City has not lost to Southwestern since February 20, 2015, a streak of six games.

The Knights' final two conference games of the season will be at home against Imperial Valley on Wednesday at 7 p.m., and against Mesa on Friday at 7 p.m.

City has won 10 consecutive games over Imperial Valley and 21 over Mesa.
