    Knights Use 18-0 Run To Pull Away From Cuyamaca

    The Knights (9-4, 3-0 PCAC) used an 18-0 run in the second half to pull away from Cuyamaca and win, 81-60, on Wednesday night. Four Knights scored in double figures as they extended their winning streak to four.

    Freshman guard Marvin Sykes led all scorers with 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting. He also had five rebounds and three steals. 

    Sophomore guard Darin Martin put in 14 points, dished out five assists and had five steals. Freshman guards Bren Haley and Devyn Iglehart combined for 22 of the Knights' 29 points off the bench. Haley had 12 and Iglehart had 10.

    Cuyamaca's Keko Moore, who led the Coyotes with 16 points, tied the game at 48-48 with 12:19 remaining after knocking down a pair of free throws. Sykes responded with a three-pointer on the other end that put them ahead for good. Sykes then converted a three-point play after being fouled on a drive to the hoop. A layup by Menas Stephens, a layup by Iglehart, a three-pointer by Iglehart, a jumper by Sykes and a three-pointer by Jordan Taylor capped off an 18-0 run in a span of 3:38 that put the game away.

    The Knights hit six three-pointers in the second half which helped them build a 25-point lead. In all, they made 9-of-23 from beyond the three-point arc. 

    City capitalized on Cuyamaca's 28 turnovers by scoring 39 points off of them. The Knights also took advantage on the offensive glass. They had 16 offensive rebounds that led to 14 2nd chance points.
