Knights Beat Mira Costa on Lamar's Last Second Layup
1/18/2012
Sophomore guard Stephon Lamar's layup with one tenth of a second remaining gave the Knights a 76-75 road victory over Mira Costa on Wednesday night.
Down by one with six seconds left, freshman guard Marvin Sykes grabbed the rebound after two missed free throws by Mira Costa and dribbled past two defenders to the middle of the court. There, he found Devyn Iglehart at the top of the key. Iglehart drove to the free throw line and then dumped the ball off to Lamar underneath the hoop for the game-winning layup.
The Knights improved to 13-6 overall and 7-1 in the PCAC. They remain in a tie for first place with Imperial Valley. The Knights are currently ranked 20th in the state and 10th in Southern California.
