The San Diego City College women's basketball team clinched its second consecutive PCAC South championship by edging Grossmont, 46-44, in overtime on Friday. It was the Knights' seventh straight win as they improved to 7-0 in conference and 11-12 overall.

The Knights struggled offensively in the first half and fell behind, 27-17, at halftime, but they outscored Grossmont, 13-4 in the third quarter to cut the Griffins' lead down to 31-30 after three.

City was down by four when Powell made a layup and a 3-pointer to give the Knights a 42-41 lead with 1:20 remaining in the game. Grossmont's Brittany Gafare tied the game on the next possession with a free throw.

Powell had a look a a game-winning 3, but missed and the game went to overtime where the Knights outscored the Griffins, 4-2, to win. A 3-pointer from City's Gafare and a free throw from Powell was all the Knights needed to secure the victory and sole possession of first place.
