Knights Drop Conference Opener

Freshman forward Victoria Ruth had a game-high 22 points, but it came in a losing effort as the Knights fell to Mesa, 65-47, in the opening game of the PCAC season.
Freshman point guard Priscilla Contreras scored 17 points to go with six rebounds and six assists.
The Knights started off hot as they hit four of their first five shots and took a 9-3 lead, but it wouldn't last. Mesa responded with a 10-0 run to take the lead for good. City fell behind by nine at the half and eventually got behind by as many as 23 points in the second half, but they battled back. The Knights went on a 13-2 run to cut Mesa's lead to 50-38 with 9:14 left, but that would be as close as they got.
The Olympians pushed their lead back up to 19 and eventually won, 65-47.
