Knights Fall To Mt. San Jacinto, 78-71
Alex Warren and Nyadoup Lam combined for 32 points and 29 rebounds, but it wasn't enough against visiting Mt. San Jacinto who defeated the Knights, 78-71, on Wednesday night. The loss dropped the Knights' overall record to 6-9 and PCAC record to 1-2.
Warren finished with 18 points and 15 rebounds, while Lam added 14 points to go with 14 rebounds and five assists. Melanie San Nicolas put in 14 points and Darrian Castillo added 11 points.
There were nine ties and five lead changes in the first half, but the Mt. San Jacinto Eagles were the ones that went into the break with a 38-36 lead.
The Knights came out strong at the start of the second half with a 9-2 run to take their biggest lead at 45-40, but Mt. San Jacinto answered with an 11-1 run of their own to regain the lead.
The Eagles would go up by as many as eight points, but the Knights did not let up. SDCC got back within striking distance and even cut the Eagles lead down to 69-68 with 2:37 remaining after a pair of free throws by Castillo.
Mt. San Jacinto's Erin Stanford scored the next five points on a jumper and a three-point play to help the Eagles pull away from the Knights. The Eagles, who sit atop the PCAC with a 14-4 overall record and 3-0 conference record, were led by Cora Lopez' 16 points and 12 rebounds. Box Score
