2017 Profiles

emiliano arevalo

  • Emilio was a hurdler at Southwest High School and also ran 18:22 for a 3.1 mile cross country course. He is a positive addition to the team camaraderie at SDCC.

arturo ballasteros

  • Arturo is one of SDCC's team members who is new to competitive running. He is quickly improving due to a strong work ethic.

juan camacho

  • Juan was the seventh man on the Otay Ranch cross country team which won the 2016 San Diego Division One CIF championship. In cross country, he ran a 10:14 3200 meters and has already finished as the Knights' #1 runner at the SoCal Preview Meet in mid-September.

esteban corpus

  • Esteban acted as manager of the team in 2016, but has emerged this season as a quick-improving runner.

Isaiah duenas

  • Isaiah was a member of the 2015 Olympian Eagles team which won the only cross country league championship in school history. As a top-5 runner on the Knights' 2016 team, he helped the team have a breakthrough season and qualify for the Southern California championship.

carlos fonseca

  • Carlos is experiencing his first competitive sport this season and is proving to have good potential as a distance runner.

antonio marquez

  • Antonio joined us last year as a first-year runner and proved to be our Most Inspirational Runner, while improving over eight minutes at the 4-mile distance.

edwin mejia

  • Edwin comes to SDCC from Sweetwater High School where he ran a 10:40 3200 meters in his first season of track as a senior. He has quickly made his way up to the #3 runner on a strong SDCC XC team early in his first season.

jose nobles

  • Jose Nobles was a varsity cross country runner and swimmer in his two years at Otay Ranch High School where he helped the Mustangs win a league championship during his senior year. Last season, he helped the Knights experience their best season in several years as the team captain and #3 runner. This year, he has already finished first and second for the Knights.

Fabian quevedo

  • Fabian attended high school in Washington state where he wrestled. He started running this past year and finished several road races before opting to join the Knights' cross country team.

arturo sandez

  • Arturo was a first year competitive runner last year and yet ran consistently in the top-5 for SDCC, while helping the team earn a spot in the Southern California Championships. He is again in the top-5 on an even better 2017 team.

jorge tejeda

  • Jorge ran a 10:11 3200 meters as a junior at Olympian High. That same year, he joined Isaiah Duenas as a key member of the Eagles' cross country team which won the first cross country league championship in school history. His senior track season was filled with injury, but he rehabilitated this summer and is battling for one of the top spots on a very strong SDCC cross country team.

jose valenzuela

  • Jose ran in the 10:30's for 3200 meters and 2:05 for 800 meters at Southwest High, but his early results this year tend to show a great deal of ability and competitiveness emerging as he begins his college career.

ryan velasquez

  • Ryan finished as high as #1 runner last year for the Knights and was the #2 runner and outstanding freshman for the 2016 season. He is one of the more talented runners on a very talented SDCC team and will prove important to the team's success in 2017. 

andres zamudio

  • Andres ran 10:34 for 3200 meters at league finals last year for San Ysidro High and also qualified for CIF finals. His early season results show great competitiveness and talent as he has challenged for the #1 spot on a strong Knights' cross country team.
