The Knights were looking to carry over the momentum from a 1-0 victory at Southwestern last Friday, but second place Cuyamaca had other thoughts as they defeated the Knights, 1-0, on Tuesday.
Brenda Renteria, a freshman midfielder for the Knights, was awarded the Women's Athlete of the Week for the week ending on October 14 by the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference.
Renteria scored three goals in a 7-1 victory over Imperial Valley on October 9. She currently leads the team in goals with six and points with 12.
The Knights fell behind after an early second half goal by Palomar's Yvette Ponce, but the Knights' Brenda Renteria cancelled it out with a goal of her own in the 65th minute to preserve a 1-1 draw on Friday.
Knights' goalkeeper Erica Inchaurregui was awarded Honorable Mention by the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference for Women's Athlete of the Week for the week ending on September 2.
Inchaurregui recorded a shutout in the Knights' 1-0 home victory over Saddleback in the opening match of the season. She had 13 saves and stopped many more Saddleback attacks by beating the Gaucho forwards to the ball.
The Knights opened the 2012 season at home on Tuesday afternoon and came away with a hard earned 1-0 victory over the Saddleback Gauchos. It was the first time since 2008 that the Knights started the season with a win.
The 2012 National Girls & Women in Sports Day will be held on Saturday, March 3 on the campus of San Diego City College from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This event is open to 4th - 8th grade girls only. It is a free event and will take place rain or shine.

For the second time in the last three games, freshman forward Melissa Arauz played a key role in helping the Knights to a victory. A week ago, she had the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute against Southwestern. On Friday, Arauz put in two goals and assisted on another in a 5-2 home win over the Grossmont Griffins.
A late header by freshman forward Melissa Arauz proved to be the difference on Friday afternoon as the Knights defeated Southwestern, 2-1, for their first conference win of the season.
The Knights gave the Mira Costa Spartans all they can handle on Tuesday afternoon, but came up short and lost, 1-0.
In the first PCAC match of the season, the Knights nearly came back from a two-goal deficit, but fell short and lost at home to Palomar, 3-1.
