Three Knights Have Accepted Athletic Scholarships For 2013-14

Three members of the 2013 SDCC Softball team have accepted scholarships to play at 4-year schools. Lisa Pena will play at Aurora University in Illinois, Jazmine Hamme will join San Diego Christian College, and Jonna Kallstrom will head to Eckerd College in Florida.

Pena, who was selected to the 2013 All-PCAC First Team, played two seasons with the Knights and, in her sophomore season, led the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference in batting average (.479) and hit .424 overall. She also went 4-5 in the circle with three complete games, including a no-hitter on March 16 against El Camino-Compton Center. She will be joining an Aurora University team that went 39-8 in 2013 and made it to the NCAA Division III Championships.

Hamme was selected to the All-PCAC Second Team in her lone season with the Knights after hitting .435 overall with nine doubles, four triples, and a team-high five home runs. She will play at San Diego Christian College in 2013-14.

Kallstrom was the Knights' catcher the past two seasons and will now move on to play with the Eckerd College Tritons in St. Petersburg, Fla. In 2013, Kallstrom hit .244 with a .320 on base percentage and 22 hits, three doubles, 12 RBI, and 11 runs.
