Knights Hold On for 3-2 Victory Over Grossmont


The Knights avenged a 2-1 loss earlier this month at Grossmont by defeating the Griffins, 3-2, on Wednesday afternoon. The Knights' Paige Nicolet earned the complete game victory by pitching all seven innings and giving up eight hits, two walks and no earned runs while striking out three.

Knights Rout Imperial Valley, 10-2


Paige Nicolet pitched a complete game and extended her hitting streak to eight games by going 2-for-3 with an RBI and 3 runs in the Knights 10-2 victory over Imperial Valley on Wednesday afternoon. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Nicole Clites had a deep hit over the right fielder's head that scored Lisa Pena for the Knights' 10th run. Since it gave them an 8-run lead, the mercy rule went into effect and the game ended.

Knights Go 3-2 at SDCC Tourney


The Knights advanced to the championship game of the Cardinal Bracket at the 17th Annual SDCC Softball Tournament, but fell to College of the Desert, 5-2.

17th Annual SDCC Softball Tournament Begins Friday, Feb. 17


The 17th Annual SDCC Softball Tournament will be held at Miramar's Hourglass Fields on February 17-18. Fifteen team will participate in this year's tournament. Pool play will begin on Friday at 10 a.m. The Knights will open with Santa Barbara and then will face Napa Valley at 2 p.m. After pool play, the teams will go into a single elimination tournament on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. Pool Play Matchups Saturday's Single Elimination Bracket

Knights Win 2 on Saturday


The SDCC softball team played two games on Saturday and won both. First they beat Glendale, 7-1, and then followed that up with an 8-0 win over L.A. Pierce. Against Glendale, Paige Nicolet pitched a complete game and gave up no earned runs while striking out four. Nicolet also went 2-for-3 with three RBI. The SDCC softball team began its 2012 season at the Glendale Tournament last weekend and came away with a 1-2-1 record.

Former Knight Sarah Burns Named NAIA National Softball Player of the Week


Sarah Burns, who played at San Diego City College in 2007, has been named as the NAIA National Softball Player of the Week.

Shafer, Wright, Young Named to All-PCAC 1st Team


The Pacific Coast Athletic Conference has selected Hannah Shafer, Brittany Wright and Dena Young to the 2011 All-PCAC First Team. Jenea Marjama, Jenna Howell and Ashley Whitmore were also honored by the conference.
