Women's Tennis Participates at Linda Vista Multicultural Fair
On Saturday, April 27, SDCC women’s tennis Head Coach Jami Jones and her team reached out to the community by helping out in the San Diego District Tennis Association booth at the Linda Vista Multicultural Fair. The Knights distributed more than 150 Tennisfest flyers (a free annual event open to all who are interested-go to www.sandiegotennis.com
for more information), gave out lots of T-shirts and other prizes.
One of the goals of the SDDTA is to bring the game of tennis to underrepresented communities in San Diego. The San Diego City College women’s tennis team played Quickstart Tennis on a mini net that was set up in the parking lot behind the booth, which the kids really enjoyed. Some were a bit timid to try it out at first, but once they got out there, they didn’t want to stop. "They were able to make some excellent grassroots connections with churches and other organizations in Linda Vista,” said Jones. There was good turnout in the community and the players did a great job sparking interest in tennis as well as representing SDCC.
