Online tutoring is a great way to get help from a tutor for students who can't visit the English Center or who don't want to spend time waiting in line. Below are three different options for getting help online.
OPTION 1: have an online TUTORing session
By appointment only. If you'd like to make an appointment to chat with an English tutor online, call us at (619) 388-3633 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Mondays - Thursdays, or between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Fridays. The EC staff member on the phone will need the following information:
- Name
- CSID number
- Phone number
- Email address
- Type of assignment
- Time and date for which you want the appointment
Online tutoring appointments can be scheduled for any time between the hours of
9 am - 9 pm Monday - Thursday, and 9 am - 1 pm Friday.
If that time and date are free, the EC staff member will schedule your appointment and then send you a confirmation email with instructions for how to log in to the online tutoring space. You can expect an online tutoring session to last approximately 40 to 50 minutes.
OPTION 2: UPLOAD AN ASSIGNMENT FOR REVIEW BY A TUTOR
If you don't need a tutoring session and would just like to get some feedback from an English tutor regarding a particular assignment, please fill out the Assignment Submission Form linked below. A tutor will look at your assignment, consider your questions, and email you back within 48 hours with his or her commentary and suggestions for improvement. Tutors will not grade your assignment.
Note: Please submit your documents in .rtf format.
OPTION 3: ASK A TUTOR A QUICK QUESTION
If you have short question regarding reading, writing or critical thinking, such as "Does this thesis statement make sense?" or "How do I write a summary?", ask your question in the short form below. An English tutor will respond within 24 hours with an answer to your question or advice for finding the answer to your question.
