Where: AH/BT Upper Quad
Purpose: To especially honor and respect the history of African Americans, to collect needed blood for all people in San Diego, and to increase awareness that African-American blood donations are vital! Blood types O and B, the blood types of about 70 % of African-Americans, are also the blood types most in demand. Blood that closely matches a patient’s is less likely to be rejected and reduces potential complications after a transfusion. Your blood donation can help African-Americans suffering from diseases such as sickle cell anemia, cancer and heart disease.
