StudentsIn support of our ongoing institutional equity planning efforts, San Diego City College has partnered with the Center for Organizational Responsibility and Advancement (CORA) to make the Teaching Men of Color and Supporting Men of Color training modules available for free to all City College employees and students (in particular, student leaders, Ambassadors, Peer Mentors, and other student employees) through February 2020. The modules are designed to enhance the capacity of faculty and staff to support learning in men of color.

Program

The fully online program includes: Five modules; an introductory module with a self-assessment; a live, virtual session (the dates are in the course calendar, which you will gain access to upon signing up and activating your CORA user account); and a certificate of completion. It is recommended that the training be completed, in sequence, within a week, with the exception of the live video session, which are available intermittently. The module descriptions and recommended pace for completing the training are listed in the table below.

Authors Presentation

In addition to the online training, the authors and teachers of the training, Dr. Luke Wood and Dr. Frank Harris III, will visit the campus once each semester to explore how to connect the course content with daily practice.

  • Spring 2019: Thursday, April 18 at 1pm in MS-221 (FLEX #101086)
  • Fall 2019: Thursday, October 10 at 11am (location and Flex # are TBA)
