The College Fee Waiver for Veteran (CAL-VET) Dependent benefit waives mandatory system wide tuition and fees. The program does not cover the expense of books or parking. There are four (4) plans under which dependent of veterans may be eligible. A dependent cannot receive this benefit if they are already receiving VA Chapter 35 benefits and must meet California residency requirements. To ensure ongoing benefits, students are required to reapply each year with the Financial Aid Office (619-388-3505, A-270).
Tuition Assistance (TA) is a benefit paid to eligible members of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard. Each service has the ability to pay up to 100% of tuition expenses of its members. Each service has its own criteria for eligibility and application process and restrictions. The funds are paid directly to the Accounting Office (619-388-3458, A-256).
