Greetings from Professor Sean Bacon, Co-Chair of Visual & Performing Arts, Graphic Design Professor, and today representing the Guided Pathways Committee with a new and exciting project!
Project Overview
Our team at Guided Pathways has embarked on an ambitious endeavor to collaborate with
program leads in crafting multi-year schedules for as many campus programs as possible. The goal? To provide a predictive schedule that informs students about the semesters when classes
will be available. This initiative, co-led and spearheaded by our colleague Bradford
Prairie aims to streamline scheduling processes and empower students with the foresight
to plan their academic journey effectively.
Workshop Pilot
We're currently in the pilot phase of our workshop series, which includes 4 sessions
ranging from 30 to 60 minutes each. These workshops are designed to scrutinize degrees,
existing scheduling patterns, and pathways to completion. Our objective is to enhance
student flexibility and completion rates and to identify programs conducive to night,
weekend, or online completion—or a hybrid of these formats. The anticipated outcome
is a multi-year schedule that will be a valuable tool for student planning and enrollment
optimization.
Looking Ahead
As we progress, we'll engage with programs that require careful course sequencing
across disciplines, ensuring concurrent course availability. Our vision extends to
establishing a multi-year block schedule, offering consistent course timing to maximize
student schedules.

Bradford and I are committed to diligently working with three programs on the pilot
workshops and will soon invite broader participation. Keep an eye on your inbox for
