Applying for Graduation
Students earning a Certificate of Achievement or Associate Degree are eligible to participate in San Diego City College's Commencement Ceremony (graduation) which takes place once per year near the conclusion of the spring semester.
Many transfer students will earn a Certificate of Achievement from San Diego City College for completion of a General Education Pattern such as the CSU General Education Breadth, IGETC or Cal-GETC. Some students may be eligible to earn an Associate Degree, and in some cases, multiple Associate Degrees.
Please review dates/deadlines for your respective San Diego City College graduation term here.
Note: If you indicated that you will earn an Associate Degree for Transfer (AA-T, AS-T) on your CSU application, the CSU will require that the San Diego Community College District verify that you are on track to earn your degree by specific deadlines prior to transfer. This process is called e-verification. In order for the verification process to happen, be sure that you apply for your Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) by the published deadlines.
You do not need to do anything else for the ADT Verification process.
Graduation is not automatic! You must apply in your mySDCCD portal if you would like to participate in commencement and be issued a degree in the months following completion of your coursework.
Note: Participation in commencement in not required in order to receive a degree. Applying for graduation, however, is required in order to receive your certificate and/or degree, and participate in the commencement ceremony.

how!
If you are uncertain whether or not you're eligible to earn a degree or certificate, please meet with your counselor.
