ASG PresidentA Special Message From Our ASG President

Welcome to San Diego City College! I am Dalia Ramirez, ASG President and Student Trustee for the San Diego Community College District. I’m currently an intern for the American Federation of Teachers and a member in the M.E.Ch.A Club here on campus. I aspire to be a lawyer and am majoring in Literary Journalism and Political Science.

Growing up in Logan Heights with immigrant parents has deeply shaped and profoundly influenced my views on embracing diversity and making it accessible for anyone to pursue their goals. I was raised by a strong single mother after my father was deported when I was seven.  

I navigated through being a first generation American and a high schooler at San Diego High School, which is right next door to San Diego City College. As such, I had the unique opportunity to take classes from San Diego City College while being a high school student, which greatly contributed to my passion for learning. These experiences ignited a desire within me to advocate for diversity, inclusion, and affordability in education. My goal is to ensure that every student, regardless of their background, has access to opportunities and resources to pursue their ambitions.

San Diego City College ASG is an amazing place to learn and thrive. In the Associated Students Government, students discover their infinite potential to develop their leadership and advocacy skills while serving our terrific student body! We have a beautiful campus and I hope you have the opportunity to see the terrific spaces during your time at City!

Joining ASG is one of the best decisions I made while I pursue my Associate’s Degree. I see student leadership on campus as an integral part of the college community as it allows us to engage with one another and enhance the student life experience. 

As the newly elected ASG President, I plan on focusing on community. Students want to be confident in themselves and need to know about all of the support available to them, and that asking for help is a strength. I want to create events and activities to promote and celebrate student life and create spaces for fun, engagement and making connections that will last a lifetime!

I look forward to all of the possibilities and want to personally invite you to discover ASG and consider becoming an essential part of the campus community where ALL students matter! Please join us at our weekly meetings every Wednesday from 1:00-2:30 PM in M-201 during the Spring and Fall semesters. I hope to see you there!

ASG Wants You!

The Associated Students Government (ASG) is the governing body that finances, organizes, and directs many student sponsored programs and activities at City College. Elections are held annually in the Spring semester for ASG Executive, Officer and Senator positions.

ASG Weekly Board Meetings

Weekly ASG meetings are open to all students and the general public. The meetings are on Wednesdays at 1:00pm in room M-201 during the Spring and Fall semesters.We encourage all to join!

2024-2025 ASG Board 

Associated Students Membership

Support your ASG by purchasing an AS membership. The membership entitles you to many special discounts and privileges. The revenues go back to support various campus events and activities. The Student Affairs Office is working with ASG to compile a list of current benefits to be announced soon.

ASG General Guidance

Please be aware that any funding requests to ASG must be received not later than last ASG Board meeting of April each year due to fiscal year constraints set forth by the college's  policies and procedures. Funding requests to ASG may be submitted in the new fiscal year beginning in the Fall semester for consideration.

We welcome your comments! During our weekly meetings, there is a section of the meeting dedicated to public comments as follows:
 

This portion of the agenda provides an opportunity for members of the public to address or ask questions to the Board of Directors on items of interest within the jurisdiction of the Board of Directors. A total of three minutes per person will be allotted. However, no action may be taken on matters that are not part of the posted agenda. If you would like action to be taken please complete and return in an AIR form located at https://www.sdcity.edu/life-at-city/docs/agenda_item_request_fillable.pdf of the ASG website and send to ASG President, Dalia Ramirez at nramirez003@student.sdccd.edu  and ASG Secretary, Crystal Cruz  at ccruz003@student.sdccd.edu.
