Engineering

The engineering curriculum is heavily based on mathematics and physical sciences. In the program you will have access to state-of-the-art CAD/CAM facilities and a high technology center that is at the cutting edge of new technologies, thereby enhancing your career choices and rewards. This pre-engineering preparation provides an excellent foundation for transfer to a four-year university as engineering major.

You will learn about engineering in different career fields, including Robotics. We even have a Robotics team here at City College. You can help build, test, and deploy an underwater autonomous vehicle. There are many ways to get involved in engineering outside of the classroom.

Program Emphasis

University schools of engineering have similar science and mathematics requirements but may differ in preparation for various engineering options. Courses offered in our Engineering program meet basic requirements for lower division preparation for California universities. Some universities may also require engineering courses as preparation for specific engineering majors. The Engineering program is designed to prepare students for transfer to California State University and University of California institutions.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, engineers earn $58,000 up to more than $115,000, depending upon the career field. The engineering field is expected to add more than 67,000 jobs in the next seven years. (Source: www.bls.gov)
