Requesting Transcripts & General Education Certification

Ordering Official SDCCD Transcripts

Most transfer institutions will request official transcripts at different points in the application process. Send transcripts only when requested. Check your email and your transfer portal at your transfer institutions frequently so you don't miss deadlines for transcript submission.

Students can request official transcripts from the San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) through their mySDCCD portal or directly through Parchment.

Visit the SDCCD Transcripts page for more information on ordering transcripts.

Important Reminder:

Students must send official transcripts from all colleges they have attended. San Diego City College and the San Diego Community College District (SDCCD) cannot forward transcripts received from other colleges. Transfer universities will not accept forwarded transcripts from our office. Each college or university you apply to requires an official copy sent directly from the original institution.

If applicable, be sure to also send any official test scores such as AP, IB, or CLEP.

Requesting General Education Certification

Once you've accepted your university admission offer and paid the enrollment fee, you'll need to request general education (GE) certification soon after. This will be noted in your to-do items.

You can find the GE Certification Request Form online.

GE Certification protects transfer students from having to complete additional lower division general education courses after you transfer for most (not all) schools.

How to request GE Certification:

    1. Locate the Request for General Education Certification on the SDCCD website under student-forms-documents.
    2. Once you select the form, you will enter the my Student Support Desk site.
    3. Fill out your personal information on the top.
    4. Select your college.
    5. Use your mouse/keypad to pull down/select Request for General Education Certification.
    6. Indicate the type of certification you are requesting, and if it is full or partial. Most students who complete a general education pattern will be requesting full certification. If you have any questions about this, please check with your counselor.
    7. Be sure that you check the address of where your certification should go to ensure it is received.
    8. Type your name and submit.

Requesting GE Certification is not the same as earning a Certificate of Achievement for CSU GE, IGETC or Cal-GETC. You will need to apply for graduation in your mySDCCD portal in order to receive a Certificate of Achievement.

If you need support with any of these steps, please visit the Transfer Center, room A-301.
