Welcome to this year’s edition of Classified Appreciation Week! This week is dedicated to celebrating you and your dedication, expertise, and the vital role you play in supporting our students and campus community every day. Your work truly makes a difference, and CAW is an opportunity to recognize and honor those contributions Throughout the week, we’ll highlight activities and events that support mental, physical, and emotional well-being, while showing appreciation for the individuals who make our San Diego City College community thrive. The wellness sessions are being provided by the professionals at VEBA, one of the benefits providers with SDCCD. Take time for yourself, connect with others, and reset as we celebrate and recognize your work as valuable members of the City College family.

2:00 PM - 3:00 PM - How to Better Manage Stress (Zoom)

9:00 AM - 10:30 AM - Classified Every Step of the Journey (Morning Session) in R-109 -This interactive workshop for classified professionals across all divisions will begin with a brief overview of the college’s Strategic Enrollment Guidelines and student survey findings, including student interest in non-traditional class times, through a classified professional lens. Participants will then engage in a Student Journey activity designed to build understanding of how classified roles across campus contribute to student success, support meaningful referrals, and help guide students through college and district resources. Grounded in Caring Campus and the “You Belong Here” initiative, the session emphasizes the important role all classified professionals play in creating a connected and student-centered experience.

2:30 PM - 3:30 PM - Leading the College: Reflections from the Executive Team in R-109 - As the culminating experience of the executive job-shadow program, this conversation offers insights into the personal leadership journeys of college executives. Panelists will reflect on challenges of the role, navigating adversity, and lessons learned through professional growth and service.

3:30 PM - 5:00 PM - Classified Every Step of the Journey (Afternoon Session) in R-111

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM - “You Belong Here” & Caring Campus Commitments Launch in R-109

9:00 AM - 9:45 AM - Sunrise Yoga in R-109

Are you looking to increase your flexibility? You’ll learn to observe your body with compassion and acceptance by releasing attachment to results and comparison. You will increase flexibility, expand your range of motion, and gently ease tension with breath. This class includes deep stretching and flow sequences. Great for all experience levels. Mat or blanket required.
 
You will be guided through the foundations of vinyasa including, sun salutations and connecting your movements to your breath. Enjoy simple, feel-good flows to increase balance, flexibility and confidence. Great for all experience levels. Mat or blanket recommended.
 

10:00 AM - 10:45 AM - Dance Fitness in R-111 - A system of calisthenics, consisting of sequences of very slow controlled movements. Tai chi techniques aim to address the body and mind as an interconnected system and are traditionally believed to have mental and physical health benefits.

12:00 PM - 12:45 PM - Spine Mobility in R-109 - Looking to improve flexibility, posture, and ease of movement? This 40-minute practice offers variations for each exercise to support spinal mobility. The class emphasizes mindful breathing and gentle movement, with encouragement to listen to your body and move at your own pace. In this class, you’ll focus on: Targeting muscles in the core, hips, and back; Poses commonly used to help reduce lower back pain; Slow controlled movement focused on form.

2:00 PM - 2:45 PM - Sound Healing in R-109 - Sound healing is a series of vibrations and tones that will help you enter deep states of meditation and relaxation by slowing down brainwave activity and activating the parasympathetic nervous system. This class is great for anyone looking to feel an overall sense of well-being, reduce pain and stress, and regulate the nervous system. Great for all experience levels. Mat or blanket and cushion recommended.

5:00 PM - 6:00 PM in R-116 - Service Project: Monarch Dinner
